Studying the Effects of Real-time Gaze Sharing in Architectural Critiques on Student-Instructor Communication

Principal Investigator

Gaze Sharing refers to the act of sharing gaze information across several people. Current research has demonstrated that Gaze Sharing can enhance educational activities. However, its potential to support design education has not been explored.  To examine the potential benefits of gaze sharing for design education, we  observed students and instructors as they communicated during an architectural design critique. Initial findings show that gaze sharing can help to enhance communication in design education. For instance, by reducing moments of silence and thus streamlining student-instructor communication.
