Truss System Design for the Technion Entrance Pedestrian Bridge, Haifa, Israel
Computational Modeling (as CTO of ParaGroup)
The Technion is a famous institute for higher-learning and research in Israel. The institute is located in Haifa, a city characterized by great variation in terms of topographical features. The campus is situated on a saddle in the east of the city, a fact which poses various challenges for planners. To support the process of designing a bridge under such spatial conditions, key structural components were modeled using state-of-the-art computational tools. The parametric model facilitated an effective CAD-to-CAM workflow. 3D CAD models and shop drawings for the bridge’s truss system and beams were auto-generated according to architectural and engineering guidelines and constraints.
